Mercury meaning...

Wednesday is a day that holds special meaning. This year 2nd Passover is on a Wednesday.

Wednesday comes from the Norse god Woden. Woden is also believed to be Mercury & Hermes. False gods get us nothing, but God’s word gets us everything. In searching through pagan meanings and tossing them aside and looking for what could be useful here, I believe that Joseph may have some tie-ins with Wednesday. Joseph was the dreamer, the father of Ephraim & Manasseh, and was called up to be 2nd to Pharaoh and given a gentile wife.

Here are some observations in regards to Wednesday, Mercury, Hermes & Joseph

Hermes is the god of boundaries, travelers, shepherds and cow herders (ranchers & farmers). He is a god of commerce and athletes. He is a robber, bringer of dreams and a watcher at night and a thief at the gates.

I don’t know what you see here, but I see some things that would relate to Joseph. Remember Satan never invented anything; he is a deceiver and not a creator. Don’t eat the banana peel, just the banana and see what sweet fruit you may find.

Hermes gives us our word Hermeneutics for the art of interpreting hidden meaning. Hermes is a messenger (and isn’t a prophet just that? Taking the word of the true God and delivering what they hear – so interpreting hidden meaning and messenger are one in the same for Biblical prophets of the true God YHWH). He can fly freely between heaven (Olympus) and earth and he is the youngest of the gods (as Joseph was the youngest of his brothers, and also as was David).

Hermes is an inventor of fire and also the escort for the dead (…and the dead will rise first). He is a thief and is very cunning (in the rapture won’t we be “stolen” away like a “thief in the night).

He was thought to be the god of “crossing over” (remember it was Joseph who pioneered and established Israel in Egypt and then also prophesied about the Exodus and had his bones brought out of Egypt w/ Moses).

He is a herald and carries a staff and he is the god of speed (godspeed). His staff had intertwined serpents (reminds me of the pole that Moses had in the wilderness and/or the standoff between Moses & Aaron and Janes & Jambres of Egypt). He also had his staff topped with something of Taurus the Bull (relating to May and also judgment). His mother was to be a gentle old woman (holy spirit) and of the Pleiades (also relating to May and Taurus).

Mercury was a god of trade, especially of grain relating to Joseph and the grain that was stored up in Egypt. Mercury’s pagan holiday is celebrated on May 15th the day after 2nd Passover.

Remember in all of this Paul himself was called “Hermes” and instead pointed to Jesus, which we need to keep firmly in mind as we search onward…

Acts 14
11When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, "The gods have come down to us in human form!" 12Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes because he was the chief speaker. 13The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought bulls and wreaths to the city gates because he and the crowd wanted to offer sacrifices to them.
14But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting: 15"Men, why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them. 16In the past, he let all nations go their own way. 17Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy." 18Even with these words, they had difficulty keeping the crowd from sacrificing to them.
All this keenly in mind this month’s astronomy has Mercury and Pleiades involved…

On Tuesday and Wednesday the 6th and 7th, the waxing crescent Moon guides the way to Mercury in twilight . (These scenes are drawn for the middle of North America. European observers: move each Moon symbol a quarter of the way toward the one for the previous date.)
